Intervals

In Mathematics, a (real) interval is a set of Real Numbers with the property that any number that lies between two numbers in the set is also included in the set. There are different types:

Open interval:

Closed interval:

Half open interval:

Intervals with infinite endpoint:

Exercises:

I.- Represent these intervals in the real number line:

a) (-1,5]

b) (-∞,8]

c) (3,∞)

II.- Indicate which is the interval represented in each one:

Solutions: II.- 1) (-∞,2]; 2) [-4,1]; 3) (-3,4); 4) [-2,5]; 5) (-1,∞); 6) (-1,6)
