absolute value

  The absolute value of a real number is the same number if the number is positive or zero. It is the opposite number if the number is negative:

                                                   

  Examples:

                 

 

 Then the distance is:     d(a,b)=|a – b|


 For example:        d(3,7) = 4              d(-1,15) = 16

d(-11,-7)=   and d(-11,7)=
